On Tuesday, December 28, 2021, Saudi Arabian authorities reiterated their call for the world’s leading economies to meet the humanitarian needs of the Afghan people and provide humanitarian assistance.

Recall that after the seizure of power in Afghanistan by the Taliban, world leaders distanced themselves from this country, citing violations of democracy. At the same time, local residents found themselves on the brink of survival due to a critical lack of necessary resources, including food.

Discussions on the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan continued during the weekly Cabinet meeting chaired by King Salman from the NEOM project site. Assistance to those in need all over the world, including this country, was also considered. The ministers discussed the results of the recent visit of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to the neighboring Gulf states and his talks with their leaders. They reviewed the positive results of the agreements.

Information Minister Majid Al-Kasabi reported on a productive dialogue between Saudi Arabia and Egypt, during which both countries agreed to unite their views on regional and international issues and crises. They will also focus on supporting regional security and stability, rejecting attempts by outside forces to interfere in Arab affairs.

The Council discussed other regional and international developments and reaffirmed the Kingdom’s unwavering position in support of the Yemeni government, the pursuit of security, stability and development for the Yemeni people.

The ministers adopted a number of decisions, including the signing of a draft memorandum of understanding with Uganda in the field of renewable energy sources, as well as agricultural cooperation with Iraq. The Cabinet of Ministers also approved a memorandum of understanding between the governments of Saudi Arabia and Kuwait on cooperation in the field of higher education and research.

Thus, the Saudi Arabian authorities have approved a course towards harmonious integration with the world community, as well as the cultivation of democratic values not only in their own country but throughout the entire Muslim world.
